Prof. Dr. Helmut Kronmüller passed away on June 30, 2023, at the age of 91. He was director of the Max Planck Institute for Metals Research and emeritus scientific member of the successor institute Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems. His scientific commitment and passion were in metals research and especially in magnetism. He has served on numerous national and international advisory boards and is the author and editor of a large number of relevant books and publications. For his achievements, he received several awards and honours.

Wojciech Suski passed away on April 3, 2022, at 85 years old. He was a professor at the Institute of low temperature and structures Research at the Polish Academy of Sciences (INTiBS) and his research focuses on the structure and magnetism of intermetallic compounds.

Ralph Skomski passed away on April 10, 2022, at 61 years old. He was a professor at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and his research focuses on the theory of magnetic nanostructures.

Bob Buhrman passed away on April 13, 2021, at 75 years old. He was Cornell's second senior vice provost for research, John Edson Sweet Memorial Professor of Engineering Emeritus, and vice president for technology transfer and intellectual property, who helped expand emerging science and engineering programs.

Professor E. F. Wassermann passed away on Friday, 31 January 2020. He was a professor at the University Duisburg-Essen, Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS), the long-time spokesperson of the Magnetism Section of the German Physical Society and spokesperson of two collaborative research centers of the DFG.

He has been a key person in establishing the European community of Magnetism, including the European School on Magnetism, the Joint European Magnetic Symposia and the European Magnetism Association, through which you are receiving this news.
