EMA

Membership

EMA membership is a voluntary initiative that supports community actions in the field of magnetism. If you value the services that EMA provides, please consider becoming a member.

EMA membership is open to both individuals and bodies (e.g., laboratories, networks, projects, and companies).

The annual membership fee is flexible to account for every national or personal situation. The suggested amount is between €20 - €100 for supporting individuals, and 10-20€/capita involved in magnetism activities for bodies. Membership is valid for one year, starting from the date of payment.

REGISTER OR RENEW YOUR MEMBERSHIP

If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the membership programme, please contact us at contact@magnetism.eu.

Note: In compliance with the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data provided via registration is stored on a server with secured and limited access. This data is processed anonymously and solely for registration and mailing purposes of the European Magnetism Association. No information is passed to any third-party entity.

What do membership fees contribute to?

EMA is and will remain a non-profit organization that serves the magnetism community in Europe and beyond. Income is generated exclusively by any surplus generated by our events, sponsorship, and membership. This income enables us to develop and maintain various actions for the benefit of our community:

  • Communication: the paid scientific secretariat takes care of processing information arising from the community (jobs, events, links, news...), contributing to the web site, newsletter and social networks. We also cover costs for the website hosting, maintenance and development;
  • Awards: The Dominique Givord and Young Scientist awards, coming with an artifact, a monetary reward and an invitation to deliver a plenary talk at the next JEMS;
  • Support young scientists: allow all to attend JEMS and ESM (provide grants, keep ESM fees moderate), and support actions of the recently-established Young EMA Officer and its network;
  • Foster European actions in the field of magnetism, such as SpintronicFactory, the Magnetometry network etc.

EMA is proud to be an inclusive association that is open to all, regardless of their personal, financial, geographical or institutional situation, and services and support are equally available for both members and non-members.

Body members

The following entities (e.g., laboratories, networks, projects, and companies) are supporting members of EMA in 2024 and 2025.

MLU logo Nonequilibrium Many-Body Systems group at Institut für Physik, Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg
Silicon Austria Labs Silicon Austria Labs (SAL) is a top research centre for electronic-based systems
Mesoscopic systems is a joint laboratory between the Department of Materials at ETH Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute

Individual members

The following persons have been supporting members of EMA at least once since 2024. Note that other persons have registered, however declined the public visibility of their name, and therefore are not listed here.

The status honours members to highlight their length of service: Contributor for early support, Bronze for 3 years, Silver for 6 years, Gold for 10 years, Platinum for 15 years, Lifetime for 20 years.
