Commitments

EMA is taking several actions to serve the community that are summarized here.

The European Magnetism Association is an umbrella organization, implementating actions for the Magnetism community. These include the organization of the Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS), the European School on Magnetism (ESM), and online seminars: Plenary lectures and early-career se minars, EMA is committed to conduct its actions for the benefice of the community with ethics and promote equality on all aspects, with practical measures:

Contributing to the visibility and recognition of the community, through awards and connection with sister societies and actions.
Supporting the technical organization of magnetism-related events through technical sponsorship.
Developing and implementing a Gender and Diversity policy, including guidelines for the organization of events, and a code of conduct to agree and follow for participating in these events.
Developing and implementing a Carbon Footprint policy, including guidelines for the organization of events
Promoting strong collaborations between academia, society and industry by developing industrial relations
Being part of the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA)

Jeffrey McCord: new Officer for EMA Awards

It is our pleasure to inform you that Jeffrey McCord from Kiel University, Germany, is the new Officer for EMA Awards. Jeffrey was proposed by the board of EMA and formally approved at the General Council meeting on 3rd July 2024.

A new French SPIN Research Program

The government has entrusted the CNRS and the CEA with the responsibility of leading the SPIN Research Program, an exploratory program within the framework of the France 2030 investment plan and operated by the ANR. With a budget of 38 million euros over eight years, the SPIN Research Program aims to develop a new generation of components for a more frugal, agile, and sustainable digital world. The program collaborates closely with the national community of public research, benefiting from the support of institutional partners.
