Request for participation to the European School on Magnetism 2021 in Cluj-Napoca was closed on April 15th. We received 204 applications from 31 countries. Applicants will be notified about results by May 15th, 2021.

The next session of the European School on Magnetism (ESM) is scheduled to take place in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, 6-17 Sep 2021. It will be organized in a mixed format, on-site and on-line.
Call for participation (registration) is open till 15 April 2021.

The contingency measures induced by the pandemic give us a unique opportunity for pioneering an e-ESM, an online higher-education Magnetism event. We believe that on-line and on-site education both have their rightful place in the education environment. While nothing may ever replace enthusiasm fostered by face-to-face meeting, online environments offer opportunities than are often not implemented on-site meetings.

Bids for hosting ESM beyond 2020 were examined in Uppsala during a meeting of the ESM steering committee, leading to a decision until 2024. Later, changes (in dates not hosting sites) were done following reschedule of events due to COVID-19.

As prepared and announced for a long time, the International System of Units (SI) has undergone a major change of paradigm in defining its units, which enter into force on 20th May 2019.

ESM2019 and ESM2020 are being organized. They will take place in Brno, Czech Republic, and Saarbrücken, Germany, respectively. ESM will make a break in 2021, as the IEEE Summer School of the Magnetics Society will be organized in Europe. We are launching a call to organize and host ESM in 2022 and beyond.
