Dear colleagues, members, and friends of EMA,

The Call for Nominations for the Dominique Givord Award 2026 and the EMA Young Scientist Award 2026 are now open!

The Dominique Givord Award, for Advancing Magnetism in Europe, and the Young Scientist Award were launched in 2019 by the European Magnetism Association (EMA). A list of all the previous EMA awardees can be found here.

The Dominique Givord Award for Advancing Magnetism in Europe is awarded every three years to an outstanding scientist, or a group of up to three scientists, for major contributions to magnetism research and the European magnetism community. It consists of a certificate, a medal, a monetary award of €3000, an invitation to attend the award ceremony and to present a plenary talk at JEMS 2027 in Prague, Czech Republic, and a travel allowance of €500 for this purpose.

The Young Scientist Award is awarded annually to a young scientist for work in the field of magnetism, mainly carried out in Europe. It includes a monetary award of €2000, an invitation to JEMS 2027 in Prague, Czech Republic, to attend the award ceremony and to present a plenary talk, and a travel allowance of €500 for this purpose. Nominations may be made by anyone interested in the field of magnetism. Please note that candidates for the Young Scientist Award may be nominated more than once!

Nominations from individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and identities are encouraged to ensure our awards reflect the diversity of our community. All details and nomination forms are available here for the 2026 Dominique Givord Award, and here for the 2026 Young Scientist Award.

We are looking forward to receiving nominations by 31 January 2026!
