Professor E. F. Wassermann passed away on Friday, 31 January 2020. He was a professor at the University Duisburg-Essen, Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Sciences (JSPS), the long-time spokesperson of the Magnetism Section of the German Physical Society and spokesperson of two collaborative research centers of the DFG.Read more
A team from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) researchers turn to microbe beads to recover rare earth elements from consumer electronic waste.The team developed a scalable biosorbent material – a microbe-embedded polymer – by combining material science with microbiology. The new method could be used to recover REE’s from end of life products that use neodymium (NdFeB) magnets.Read more
