In this December 2024 editorial, Emmanuelle JAL, Communication Officer, summarized all the communication means and tools that EMA uses and provides to the community

Dear Colleagues,

A key aspect of EMA activities involves maintaining our website - particularly the event listings and the job market webpage - while also managing EMA's social media visibility. The communication role of EMA has evolved significantly over the years, so here I would like to remind you how belonging with EMA enables you to benefit from our communication tools.

The communication of EMA is facilitated by three intertwined means: the EMA website: magnetism.eu; our social media accounts: LinkedIn, X and Instagram; and the newsletter. This enables several different features as outlined in the following non-exhaustive list:

EMA communication main tools

  • Regular news is communicated through our website and social media: LinkedIn, X and Instagram.

  • Find or advertise a job through our job-market webpage.

  • A calendar of events, including the EMA early-career seminars and EMA plenary lectures, as well as externally organised events. Events included here are also advertised once on EMA social media channels and in the following monthly newsletter. If you wish additional visibility, we offer paid advertisement options. More information can be found here.

  • The abstracts, slides and recordings of lectures from previous editions of the European School on Magnetism (ESM) are available in this repository.

  • A list of magnetism-related national, European and international networks is provided.

  • A webpage of useful links to magnetism-related companies, software and tools, books and media, labs and platforms, and societies is available.

  • Our monthly Newsletter: every month, we send out a newsletter to keep the community up to date with information recently inserted or updated on the website. This covers news, job offers, calendar of events, links etc. If you wish to receive it, please subscribe to our mailing list.

Please help us keep those different tools up to date by contacting us at any time.

Last but not least, I would like to take this opportunity to warmly thank our Scientific Secretary, Michal Stano, for his dedicated and outstanding work behind the scenes, including publishing job offers, maintaining the event list, and publishing our monthly newsletter, among other things. I would also like to extend a warm welcome to Evgenia Tereshina-Chitrova, who has joined the communication team to help maintain our active X and LinkedIn accounts. Beyond the communication team, I am grateful to all EMA Officers who contribute to content, such as webinars, ESM lectures, and via networking. A special thanks to Sofia Ferreira Teixeira, the EMA Young Officer, for creating and maintaining our new Instagram account. Finally, thank you very much to Nuala Caffrey, who serves as EMA's English proofreader, in addition to her role as Gender and Diversity Officer.

I wish you all a safe and happy end of year 2024!
Best regards,
Emmanuelle JAL, Officer for Communication
