JEMS 2016 took place in Glasgow from 22nd to 26th August. With more than 600 participants and 900 abstracts submitted, it was a lively meeting with high scientific quality.
The program followed the general format of JEMS conferences, with plenary (5) and semi-plenary (10) presentations, contributed presentations (circa 250) in parallel symposia, tutorials and a special session outlining the future in selected topics in Magnetism. Poster sessions, a highly-valued activity at JEMS conferences, have been quite lively, in the form of plenary sessions with a total of more than 500 presentations.
Participants originated from 40 countries, and 350 students participated in the event.
While JEMS is a yearly event, years with ICM or Intermag visiting Europe are skiped. Thus, as Intermag 2017 is held in Dublin in April, the next JEMS will take place in late Aug. or beginning Sep 2018. It will be organized in Mainz, with chairs Mathias Klaui and Jairo Sinova. Later on, JEMS2019 will be held in Uppsala, late Aug. or beginning Sep.
