Nominations for the 2027 EMA Young Scientist Award are open until January 31, 2027.

Launched in 2019 by the European Magnetism Association (EMA), the Young Scientist Award is awarded annually to a young scientist for theoretical or experimental work, primarily carried out in Europe, in fundamental or applied magnetism.

The call for the 2027 Young Scientist Award is now open. Please send nominations by January 31, 2027, by email to the EMA Awards Officer, Jeffrey McCord, and copy the EMA President, Dennis Meier.

The nominated candidate must have defended the doctorate after February 1, 2022, with allowances for military service and parental leave.
The award consists of a certificate, a medal, a monetary award of €2,000, an invitation to deliver a plenary talk at JEMS 2027 in Prague, Czech Republic, and to attend the award ceremony, and a travel allowance of €500 for this purpose. In addition, we offer an online EMA Plenary talk in 2027 if the awardee has not yet given an EMA talk.

Anyone interested in the field of magnetism may make nominations. Please note that candidates for the Young Scientist Award may be nominated more than once! We encourage nominations from individuals of all genders, backgrounds, and identities to ensure our awards reflect the diversity of our community.
