Sofia Ferreira Teixeira, the EMA Young Officer, shares a brief update from the Young EMA Working Group.
Dear colleagues, members and friends of EMA,
I would like to share a big thank you following YORNE – the Young Researchers Network Event @ JEMS 2025 in Frankfurt, Germany, this past August. It was a real pleasure to see you all in person in such an engaged room of students and early-career researchers. It was an opportunity to meet new people, exchange experiences, and celebrate the breadth (and fun!) of our community.
A special congratulations to the YORNE winners: Miriam Gabriele Fischer (JGU Mainz), who took first place, and Pierre Le Berre (Institut Néel), who took second place. Thank you as well to everyone who participated and contributed to making the event so welcoming and lively, and to the JEMS 2025 organising team for their support throughout.
YORNE was, above all, a team effort from the Young EMA Working Group, and I want to give particular credit to the members who were the driving force behind it: Elizabeth Martin Jefremovas, and Daniel Arranz López!
Looking ahead, we are now gearing up for upcoming outreach initiatives together with our partners at the International Association of Physics Students (IAPS). As a reminder, EMA and IAPS have a Memorandum of Understanding, and IAPS is an exceptionally active organisation with a strong track record of outreach, reaching wide audiences both online and in-person, as well as serving as IUPAP’s Affiliated Commission of Physics Students (AC5).
Please stay tuned for announcements in the coming months. And if you would like to support these efforts or get involved, feel free to reach out at young@magnetism.eu
Best wishes,
Sofia FERREIRA TEIXEIRA, EMA Young Officer
