In this July 2025 editorial, Sofia Ferreira Teixeira, the Young EMA Officer, shares a brief update from the Young EMA Working Group.
Dear colleagues, members and friends of EMA,
With JEMS 2025 in Frankfurt approaching, I’m delighted to share a brief update from the Young EMA Working Group.
Over the past year, one of our focuses was creating welcoming in-person spaces where early-career researchers can meet, connect, and feel part of the wider magnetism community. Our networking event at ESM 2024 in York, UK, was a great success, combining casual conversation, a friendly team quiz, and an introduction to the Young EMA group.
Following on from the spirit of our first YORNE gathering at JEMS 2023, we are excited to continue this work and to do it again, bigger and better:
YORNE – Young Researchers Network Event @ JEMS 2025, Monday, 25 August 2025 | 18:45
This informal and relaxed event is open to all students and early postdocs. No pressure, just a space to meet peers, share experiences, and hear short, fun pitches from other young researchers about quirky, exciting, or surprising aspects of their work. You may read more from the JEMS website.
Please note: You must register separately via the form – selecting YORNE during JEMS registration is not sufficient.
We look forward to seeing many of you there, as we continue to build a stronger and more connected young community in magnetism.
Best wishes,
Sofia Ferreira Teixeira, EMA Young Officer
