Two major events this spring highlight the dynamism of the European spintronics industry

In the first place, Hprobe has been acquired by Mycronic. Hprobe is a French company, created in 2017 and now a leading provider of semiconductor Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) for magnetic devices. Mycronic is a Swedish high-tech company specializing in precision production equipment for the electronics industry. The integration is presented as a strategic move to enhance Hprobe’s technological and market leadership in MRAM and magnetic sensor testing, supporting the transition to high-volume manufacturing, and enhancing reliability and performance for end-users. By leveraging Mycronic’s global infrastructure, Hprobe is expected to expand its presence across Asia, North America, and Europe while accelerating its technology and product roadmaps to meet growing demand for wafer testing of advanced MRAM and next-generation TMR sensors. Hprobe will operate as a new business line within Mycronic’s Global Technologies division.

In the second place, Vertical Compute raised a seed funding of 20M€ to start developing its business. The Belgian company aims to develop a novel vertical integrated memory (VIM) and compute technology, unlocking a new generation of AI applications. The VIM technology harnesses nanomagnetism to cut data movement and slash energy use by up to 80%. This is liable to deliver major advancements for the tech industry and enabling highly tangible applications for consumers in the near future.
