We are looking for a PhD student interested in the development of better magnetocaloric films for more energy efficient thermomagnetic generators, which represent a new approach for the conversion of thermal to electric energy. This work focuses on film deposition, analysis of structure, microstructure and thermomagnetic properties, as well as understanding & optimizing functional properties. It is part of a joint DFG project with KIT, where these films will be used to build thermomagnetic micro-generators. Accordingly, interdisciplinary collaborations are possible.
You should have a master degree or diploma in material science, physics or micro-technoloy. Knowledge and interest on magnetocaloric materials, Heusler alloys or thin films are welcome. The employment contract is primarily limited to 12 months and will be extended by another 2 years upon a successful mid-term evaluation. The salary is based upon the TV-L rules (E13; 50%)
Application (in English or German) including a cover letter with motivational statement, CV, copies of certificates and other relevant material (if applicable) quoting the reference number DM2103-2-MicroTMG/2019 in a single PDF file exclusively to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Deadline for applications: 28 February 2019
