A general trend is to transfer functionalities from the usual rigid supports to flexible media, from cloth to plastics. Demonstrations are emerging to apply this to spintronics.
Overview
Bringing functionalities to flexible media concerns various fields such as sensing, photovoltaics, electronics etc.Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) is a key building block of spintronics, ranging from MRAM to sensors. MTJs have recently been successfully transfered from a Si wafer to PET sheets, still displaying 300% of magnetoresistance. This is encouraging for the consideration of spintronics for application on flexible media.
