The French government has entrusted the CNRS and the CEA with the responsibility of leading the SPIN Research Program, an exploratory program within the framework of the France 2030 investment plan and operated by the ANR. With a budget of 38 million euros over eight years, the SPIN Research Program aims to develop a new generation of components for a more frugal, agile, and sustainable digital world. The program collaborates closely with the national community of public research, benefiting from the support of institutional partners.

The expansion of the "digital world" entails an environmental cost that can no longer be ignored. According to projections, by 2030, it will account for between 20 and 30% of global electricity consumption. To reduce this energy consumption, the SPIN Research Program aims to support this new cycle of innovations. "Richer" than traditional electronics, this technology has already transformed sectors such as data storage and sensors.

To achieve this objective, the Research Program relies on five targeted projects. Focused on emerging themes in spintronics with high innovation potential, these projects are supported by three transversal projects and other projects that will emerge gradually through various calls.
