In this editorial, Christian Back, officer for awards, disclose the result of the EMA Young Scientist Award 2024.

Dear Colleagues and Friends of the European Magnetism Association,

It is our great pleasure to announce that the EMA Young Scientist Award 2024 goes to Alvaro Martín Gallo Cordova for his contributions aimed at bridging the gap between fundamental magnetism and impactful industrial applications collaborating with private and public entities. He has focused on elucidating the formation pathway of multicore magnetic nanostructures with impressive heating capabilities and subsequently applied them in magnetically induced sustainable reactions – areas relatively unexplored until now.

Alvaro Martín Gallo Cordova currently holds a postdoctoral researcher position at the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales de Madrid, Spain. He received his PhD in 2022 from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spain for his work on “Magnetic Nanoreactors”. Subsequently, he joined the Instituto de Ciencia de Materiales. His research now focuses on Materials for Medicine and Biotechnology.

We would like to deeply thank the community for the number of excellent nominations we have received and congratulate Alvaro Martín Gallo Cordova for his outstanding achievements.
