Congratulations to Jon Gorchon who received the 2021 Edouard Branly Award and the 2022 Suzanne Zivi Award for his work on ultrafast magnetization switching thanks to electric pulses.

Jon Gorchon is a CNRS researcher at the Institut Jean Lamour. Since he joined the spintronics & nanomagnetism team in 2017, he has been developing a fundamental research project in spintronics. His research concerns the acceleration of the reversal of magnetisation in a magnet by electric currents, down to picosecond timescales. This work could lead, for example, to new types of random access memory (magnetic) for processors that would be very energy efficient and extremely fast.
For his excellent research he received the 2021 Edouard Branly Award from the Fédération Française de Sociétés Scientifiques (F2S) as well as the 2022 Suzanne Zivi Award from Académie Stanislas.
