The Laboratory for Mesocopic Systems (PSI/ETHZ) based at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is looking for a Postdoc to investigate the use of arrays of coupled nanoscale magnets for uncoventional computation.
The successful candidate has a background in magnetic thin films, nanostructures and devices. He/she will be responsible for developing unconventional computing based on the behaviour of arrays of nanomagnets. This will include control of the nanomagnet interactions, observation of the emergent behaviour, and interfacing to electronics. Characterisation will mainly be carried out using lab-based characterisation methods (nanoMOKE, transport, SQUID-VSM), but there is also a possibility to use synchrotron x-ray microscopy at the Swiss Light Source.
