The Laboratory of Materials and Low Temperatures (LMBT) of the Institute of Physics Gleb Wataghin (IFGW) of the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), Campinas, Brazil, has an open position for a 36 months postdoctoral fellowship, with FAPESP scholarship, for candidates with experience in nanostructured materials. This scholarship is part of an international collaboration project between São Paulo and Portugal (FAPESP-FCT [Foundation for Science and Technology of Portugal]). The project, "Dimensionality effects in the physical properties of Heusler and magnetostrictive intermetallic materials: from 1 to 3D architectures", is being developed together with the University of Porto, as well as the University of the Basque Country / Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV / EHU) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The general objective is the study of the dimensionality reduction effects on intermetallic alloys with promising magnetic properties via the growth of nanowires / nanostructures by the metallic flux method in nanoporous alumina templates. The project includes the investigation of alloys exhibiting expressive behavior of magnetostriction, magneto-calorimetry and spin polarization. See PDF file for more information.
