Practical information
General information about Romania
- Visas are not required for citizens of the European Community. For non-European citizens detailed information
can be obtained from the Romanian Ministry for Foreign Affairs or a Romanian Embassy or Consulate, to check whether you need a visa. If you do so
a personal invitation letter may be necessary (see annex documents right below), which you may ask obtain from the Organizing Committee. Conditions concerning the remaining validity of your passeport and/or Schengen visa may also apply. Here are some documents to assist you. We leave it under your responsibility that you check that these conditions still hold at the time of your departure.

- Notice: holders of permanent residence permits issued by member states of the European Union can in principle enter without a visa, if the permit is of permanent status and extends to at least five years. All the permits that do not fall into this category are not long-term residence permits and hence, the holders of such permits must apply for a Romanian entry visa.

- The currency in Romania is the New Lei (RON), equivalent to about 0.24€ (Click

- Foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks and in many exchange offices located in different places of the town.
Many cash dispensers are found, accepting any type of international credit cards.

This is possible, however time-consuming if the connection to Timisoara is made by train. A regional flight connection may be wiser.
Low-cost trips
Reach conference site
- Groups: conference lifts will be organized for large to smaller-size groups from Timisoara airport. We will be awaiting all participants having replied to our time-of-arrival survey. Those persons having not supplied their time table will be taken care of depending on the available free seats. A contribution of 5€/individual will be asked in any case.
- Individuals: we advise you to use the bus or a taxi:
- Taxis in timisoara are a cheap and safe way of transportation as long as you take one from an established company,
and not a privately-run taxi. Prices depend on the company so be sure to check them out before getting in.
A typical fare per kilometer is 1.4 RON (0.32€) but are susceptible to change. Companies to be trusted include the following:
Radio, Vest, Timis, Grup, Pro. The name of the company is usually displayed very clearly on the taxi.
- Public transportation: tickets must be purchased before travelling by tram,
bus or trolley-bus. Tickets may be purchased from special booths found at major bus stations.
This type of ticket must be punched inside buses and tramways immediately upon boarding. If you do not have a valid ticket, you are liable to pay a fine of 30-40€.

- Students have their accommodation at the Faculty of Law, Universitatea de Vest Timisoara. The address is: Caminul Facultatii de Drept, Bd. Eroilor de la Tisa nr. 9A, RO-300557 Timisoara.
- A few persons, including Lecturers, may have their accommodation in building G4 of l'Universitatea de Vest Timisoara. The address is: Caminul G4, Aleea Studentilor (Complex Studentesc), RO-300551 Timisoara.
Registration and welcome
Lectures will start on Sept.1st morning and end on Sept.10th, end of afternoon. Therefore you should schedule your forth trip on Aug.31st, and return trip on Sept.11th.
- Registration will be organized on Aug.31st at the accommodation building of the Faculty of Law, starting at noon. The registration will stay open late in case of night arrivals.
- On Aug.31st a welcome diner will be organized at 8pm.

Misc
- Internet sockets are available in all room, however no LAN cable will be provided. Please bring your own.
- One outing and one or more sport sessions have been scheduled. Please bring casual wear for such purpose.
- We encourage participants to bring posters to present their work. Posters may be hanged throughout the entire school, to be visited mainly during coffee breaks. The size of the posters is XXX x XXX. Early in the time schedule oral sessions have been scheduled for quick presentations of the participants as an introduction to their poster (two slides max). Please have such slides prepared in an electronic format!
