Working within the R&D department, the successful candidate will start their career in research and development within the highly complex area of transducer design and thin-film wafer processing for the manufacture of future generations of thin film magnetic and magneto-optic recording heads. The role holder will apply and extend the latest understanding of device physics, microfabrication technology and photonics to meet the challenges of this fast moving environment. Reporting to the Research & Development Manager, the successful candidate will work within an established team defining and driving these leading edge technologies into future data storage products.
Product and transducer design will involve modelling, prototyping and performance analysis of next generation magnetic and photonic materials / devices to meet customer requirements. Nano device development will involve the application of advanced lithography, vacuum deposition, plating, CMP and etch technologies using associated state of the art metrology techniques. The successful candidates will undergo an extensive training program that covers key aspects of these relevant technologies within the Research & Development department.
Entry level position = suitable for candidates with completed undergraduate study (engineering or science discipline such as physics, optics, optoelectronics, chemistry, materials or microelectronics).
